Atlassian has begun a three-year wind-down of several Data Center products. From 30 March 2026, new customers could no longer purchase new subscriptions for affected Data Center products or associated Marketplace apps. Existing customers retain purchasing and expansion options until 30 March 2028.
Atlassian states that affected Data Center subscriptions and associated Marketplace apps will expire on 28 March 2029 and become read-only. The affected list includes Jira Software Data Center, Jira Service Management Data Center, Confluence Data Center, Bamboo Data Center, Crowd Data Center, mobile apps and Marketplace apps for those products.
Bitbucket Data Center is not included in the end-of-life programme and is moving to a hybrid licensing model. Jira Align Data Center is also excluded. Atlassian says extended maintenance may be available after March 2029 for certain customers by exception.
Verified facts
- The phased wind-down began on 30 March 2026.
- New-customer sales ended on that date for affected products and apps.
- Existing-customer sales and expansions end on 30 March 2028.
- Full end of life is scheduled for 28 March 2029.
Analysis
This is a live migration-pressure event because the first purchasing restriction is already active. It changes planning assumptions for organisations that still require self-managed Atlassian deployments, while preserving exceptions and product exclusions that make a blanket “Data Center is dead” headline inaccurate.
Limitations
The official pages do not quantify customer migration progress or define how broadly post-2029 exception-based maintenance will be offered.
