What changes
The older JDK 17 and Spring 5.x foundation leaves support. Supported projects must adopt JDK 21 and Spring 6 and validate any custom code that depends on changed APIs or framework behaviour.
Who is affected
- SAP Commerce Cloud customers still building or operating on JDK 17.
- Custom extensions compiled against Spring 5.x.
- Delivery pipelines, test suites and third-party libraries tied to the older runtime.
Timeline
The support deadline is 31 August 2026. Projects should complete compatibility testing before the deadline rather than treating it as a same-day configuration change.
Required action
- Upgrade the project runtime to JDK 21.
- Move framework dependencies to Spring 6-compatible versions.
- Retest custom extensions, integrations and build tooling.
- Resolve incompatible third-party libraries before production deployment.
What is not affected
The Commerce Cloud service itself is not being retired. The record does not claim that every SAP Commerce deployment uses the same extension set or upgrade effort.
